URGENT WE NEED YOUR INPUT

A survey is attached to enable you to provide input to a special presentation and installation that SSAC is proposing for next June, July. We require your input to determine the level of interest and support for this initiative.

The South Simcoe Arts Council has an opportunity to apply for Ontario 150 Community Celebration funding. In doing so, we must demonstrate that there will be a real enthusiasm for artists from all spectrums to want to participate.

We must align with one or more of the Ontario government program priorities to build awareness, excitement and a broad public participation such as:

*To create a themed multicultural event and community celebrations,
*To commemorate success and highlight talent,
*To celebrate and explore Ontario’s proud history and the people, places and events that shape it, such as art installations, food etc.
*To create art exhibitions in public spaces showcasing local or iconic artists.

We must support equal opportunity and empower people and communities such as youth innovation, which we believe we can do.

To measure support for this initiative; we are encouraging your input and ideas. Our turn around time is quick; our application must be filed no later than September 2, 2016.

We were proposing to make an application for an art installation that would celebrate great lives in New Tecumseth such as Frederick Banting, Kate Aitken and D.A. Jones. If we have overlooked one of the great lives; please advise.

To commemorate these greats we would foster and generate the enthusiasm of all artists, be it visual, structural, literary, artifacts, music, dance, theatre etc., to encourage our arts community to bring together an arts installation reflecting our area’s 150 years achievements. We would place a “Call for Artists” and hope that all forms of the arts would be depicted. We would showcase on each of the main streets of the entire New Tecumseth community.
