September 2013, the Ontario Trillium Funding provided funding which leads to exciting opportunities for both the South Simcoe Arts Council and the Gibson Cultural Centre over the next three years.
The South Simcoe Arts Council (SSAC), the lead organization, and the Gibson Cultural Centre Corporation (GC) continue to work together: to negotiate a positive partnership agreement that builds upon their respective arts and cultural mandates, to work together for the benefit of the community; to create an innovative approach that will enable all arts organizations to go forward in a successful, self sustainable fashion under one roof; and to foster this collaboration which will increase and improve arts / culture programming available in our community.
The objective of the two corporations is to collectively review and streamline operations, policies and procedures, to remove duplication and adopt sound business practices that will result in reducing expenses, higher resource utilization, combined programming efforts to drive increased revenue generation. The outcome of these efforts will strengthen the capacity of the voluntary sector.
As the two organizations go forward, the initiative shall attract investment from the community, stimulate new opportunities for the “7 lively arts” in a regenerated building! Where once we were divided, we will experience a stronger and vibrant community as a whole. We will attain better use of the physical space creating an environment where all intergenerational arts / culture activities can take place.
