Isolde Ryan has been a resident of the New Tecumseth area since 2002, and a member of the South Simcoe Arts Council since 2010. She joined the Wordsmiths (the SSAC's writing group) in 2015 and became a member of the Board of Directors in 2018.
Isolde is an author, as well as a visual artist who works with oils, acrylics and most recently stained glass. She also loves to restore and modify antique furniture.
In addition to the arts, Isolde loves animals and has opened her home to horses, rabbits, chickens (among other things) and with her husband John, owns Doberman von Ryan's Luxus Kennels.
Thanks to the influence of her good friend Rita Letendre, Isolde began to incorporate abstract elements into her painting.
The first time Isolde entered Arts on Main, in 2010, she won the People's Choice Award for painting! And she was the 1st place winner in the 2015 and 2017 Battle of the Brushes.
Isolde is a contributing author in the 2017 edition of the Chicken Soup for the Soul: The Spirit of Canada, a special edition in honour of Canada's 150th Anniversary.
