Memorial Scholarship in memory of Jane Black

Heaven's choir has been enriched with the addition of our colleague and friend Jane Black, who slipped into their midst May 12th - her operatic voice now unwavering, the words remembered, her joy of singing revived. Jane was a long time active member of Barrie Branch ORMTA. She was an enthusiastic member, attending meetings regularly, and was involved in various committees until advancing Alzheimer's set in. She encouraged her vocal students as well as other music teachers to become a member of ORMTA. Her legacy lives on in the hundreds of students Jane taught over the years, including several who are now teachers.

Barrie Branch ORMTA has set up a Memorial Scholarship Fund in memory of Jane Black. We are hoping those touched by Jane's heartfelt singing over the years, as well as students, friends, and colleagues will support this fund. Our goal is to have an ongoing scholarship fund to be awarded annually to a vocal student at Barrie Music Festival. Jane was part of the vocal committee at BKMF for many years and her students were awarded many top awards. Donations can be sent to: Susan Pajor, Treasurer Barrie Branch ORMTA, 68 Gore Dr. Barrie, L4N 5R5. Please make cheques payable to Barrie Branch ORMTA. Your support is greatly appreciated.
