This four-part workshop series will introduce and help further develop musical skills.
 
$15 per session

Session 1: Music in the last 150 years
- Listen to live and recorded folk music, country, the blues, jazz, rock and roll, soul, funk and hip hop.
- Become aware of and practice specific rhythms, improvisation, harmonic patterns and the blues form.
- Learn about the historical parallels that influenced the music of specific eras.
 
Session 2: Music Rudiments
- Understand music as a language that has the ability to tell a story.
- Create your own stories.
- Focus on melody, harmony, rhythm, and song form.
 
Session 3 & 4: Composing Your Own Songs
- Create your own song by using the skills and techniques of the previous sessions.
- Plan, experiment with, practice and refine and present your song in the final session.
