During this 8-week, pressure-free, creativity-stretching, not-like-school courses, creative writing workshop course, writers in grades 7 and 8 will have the opportunity to explore, dream, and create, all while exploring their voice and creative talents.
This course will start young writers on a journey to finding a voice of their own, anywhere their imagination can carry them. Each class will dive into new forms of writing, including poetry, journaling, character development, spoken word, oral storytelling, memoir, and more.
Participants will write loads, and through that writing will be invited to find their voices, share their stories and be their truest selves, both on and off the page. Lots of laughter, deep writing, and making room for all the feelings, will take place. There will be take-home assignments between sessions.
This course will not critique, foster competition, give strict rules or pressure participants to write things they don’t want to write.
