(As well as Dingle; Ireland, Gros Morne; Newfoundland and the Arctic)
Andrew Cheddie Sookrah SCA, OSA, CSPWC, PSC
Offered by The South Simcoe Palette Club.
To register contact Lori Hepburn, workshop coordinator, at firstname.lastname@example.org
From Tom Thompson to Robert Genn, Wendy Birmingham, Monica Burnside and Ryan Sobkovich, artists have in their own unique voice presented the passionate presence of the landscape; Ontario and afar.
In this one-day intensive workshop, Andrew Sookrah will focus on rocks, water and everything else connected to them.
He will begin with a short talk about the works he brought in and then will move into a brief discussion on the basics covering the following: drawing techniques, perspective, composition, colour, texture, use of material as well as some guidance from another workshop he teaches - Brushstrokes For Better Results. Andrew will also touch on the different approaches needed when working in studio and en plein air.
His first demonstration of the day will be on constructing a landscape working in acrylic. This demonstration will be done using a layered technique beginning with a wet blocking in of all shapes.
Artists will then paint with Andrew offering constant one to one guidance.
After the brief lunch break, the second demonstration will be done in watercolour, once again beginning with a wet blocking in of shapes. Artists will paint and then when Andrew's watercolour can be worked on again, he will continue with his demonstration.
Instruction will be given to artists working in the medium and style they choose.
At 2.40 there will be a review of work done with individual feedback and guidance on progress.
