Events - Workshops - OTF_TLLL - Lovely Leaves - Metal Clay Workshop - Teen/Adult

**This class has been postponed due to COVID-19 concerns. A new date will be announced in the next few weeks. Please stay tuned**

After another cold winter, start looking forward to spring in this leaf-themed workshop! Spring brings us the beauty of nature, and a perfect way to preserve this beauty is in silver clay!

In this workshop, you will use leaves to imprint into fine silver metal clay, an eco-friendly clay made of fine silver particles. You will make a pendant or a pair of earrings, and you will use a torch to fire the clay, transforming your leaf-imprinted clay into a beautiful piece of solid 99.9% fine silver! There will be a selection of leaves available at the workshop, but participants can also bring in small leaves of their own if desired.

To finish off your jewellery piece, you will attach your earrings to sterling silver ear wires, or attach a jump ring to your pendant. You’ll leave the workshop with a finished piece of handcrafted, leaf-inspired silver jewellery!

No previous experience is necessary to take this workshop; all levels welcome! Please note: due to the use of butane torches in this workshop, participants must be 16 years of age or older. Those under 18 years of age must have parental consent / a signed waiver.

Following firing the class will take a break for the pieces to be tumbled which is the final step (approx. 45min - hour during scheduled class time, you are welcome to leave and shop or grab a snack along Victoria Street). After the break everyone can come back to pick up their finished pieces.

This is a wonderful opportunity to create a special one-of-a kind present for someone or yourself!

Location: FortyOne: Local Art Market 41 Victoria St E., Alliston

Please register early as this class has a limited number of participants

**While this class is open to ages 16+ no participant under the age of 18 will be allowed to fire their own piece. Firing for underage participants will be done by the instructor. If you want an underage participant to fire their own piece a parent/guardian must sign a waiver. Please contact Sarah at s.odonnell@southsimcoeartscouncil.com if you require this form.

*Necklace chains are not included in the cost, but will be available for purchase for those interested.
