Exhibits & Events - Arts in Our Community Submissions, Exhibits, & Purchase - Marion Blum

Country Life

I took up painting later in life and have enjoyed taking classes from many accomplished artists who have shared their artistic styles and methods. I enjoy working with various mediums and have yet to discover my favourite. I paint mainly in acrylic and oils and have recently tried encaustic. Mixed media allows for so much creativity as I like incorporating all types of interesting objects and ideas into my creations.

I am inspired by my beautiful rural surroundings in the Alliston area but spend time in the city as well. I love to travel and discover inspiration for my art during those journeys. Art is therapeutic and gives me a sense of relaxation. My creativity provides an outlet from a hectic lifestyle which allows me to focus
on my art.

During my professional career I have had the privilege to create multi-sensory environments for individuals to help them find their inner creativity and provide their escape from the pressures of daily life.

I have won a number of awards for my art through South Simcoe Arts Council:

  • Best in Show and a 2nd Place for Emerging Artist with Arts on Main Exhibits
  • Peoples Choice for Canada 150 Exhibit

I have had the privilege of displaying my art in both group and solo exhibits. Several of my pieces of art have sold over the years, with some travelling as far as Poland. I was involved in a major art project in Markham with the piece being purchased by the City.
