Riding the Beast is derived from scrying a beautiful slab of petrified wood. Much like a paleontologist excavates for hidden treasures, I utilize a paintbrush and oil paint and unearth layers of intricate patterns akin to the markings on the stone. Anthropomorphic characters materialize that feel archaic and ancient. Rooted in the unconscious mind, these mysterious and whimsical images spontaneously flow onto the surface in bizarre allegories and personal myths. The archetype most resembled in this character is the threshold guardian that blocks the entrance to the next venture. The protagonist tames the beasts and rides forth on the next new adventure illuminating the potential darkness.
