Artist Bio

Barbara Large is an Elected Member of the Canadian Society of Painters in Water Colour/La Society Canadienne de Peintres en Aquarelle established in the year 1925 as were Franklin Carmichael, A.J. Casson, Fred S. Haines, and Franz Johnston. King Charles is an Honorary Member and one of England's most prolific artists. Barbara has shown her work in numerous juried shows, participated in many art auctions, and took part in an exhibition traveling across Canada through the Canadian Society of Painters in Water Colour in conjunction with the Blackwood Gallery, Erindale College, University of Toronto. She was invited to take part in the international Biennial Exhibition at the National Museum in Coyocan, Mexico 2004. She is expected to be published in a book currently in progress but not yet available. In 2022, Barbara completed, "In the Studio: Post-War Abstract Expressionism'' authorized by MOMA, the Museum of Modern Art, New York, USA, She received the 'Ampersand Award' from the 3rd Annual Women in Watercolor International Juried Exhibition, Pawlet, Vermont, USA'.

In 2024, she participated in the '1st Annual Women in Watercolor Member's only Online International Exhibition. She is currently enrolled in MOMA's, "What is Contemporary Art'.

Artist's Statement:
"I paint because it gives me a great sense of accomplishment when I record that which captures my attention, be it a sound, a sight, an object, or an idea. Painting is my way of recording both what I see and what I feel."
