Artist Bio

Kirstin moved towards ceramic art when she met her husband Jim Craigmyle (a Photographer with the South Simcoe Arts Council). Kirstin always wanted to make pots but it was Jim's encouragement that helped her get started.

In 2017, Kirstin moved to Bradford to marry Jim and started taking lessons from Debra Gibbs (also a potter at SSAC). Debra encouraged Kirstin to understand the basics of clay forms and find the shapes that she adored.

Kirstin works as a psychotherapist in Bradford and makes pots as her personal therapy. Her favourite part of the process is when she is "in the mud". One of her beloved writer's Tich Nhat Hanh says "no mud, no lotus".

Kirstin loves to urge the clay into a desired shape. Simple dipping of glaze is intended to complement the forms she makes.
