Mourning Dove is an excellent short story for readers both young and old. I have read many books, and I have also written a few. Those that catch and hold my attention speak to me mentally, emotionally and spiritually; this story accomplishes all three. The author, Carolyn J Morris, engages the reader from the first page and leads one forward from chapter to chapter. The reader is soon acquainted with the characters and touched by their emotions. Obviously, Carolyn is drawing upon her own personal experiences. Making use of a wonderful gift for description writing, Carolyn helps us to see each scene in the mind's eye. It would make an excellent family movie. My score for Mourning Dove is ten out of ten!
