All jewellery by Metal Keys Designs is uniquely made with precious metal clay.
Precious metal clay is a specialized clay composed of small metal particles, such as fine silver or sterling silver. The metal particles are combined with a binder made of organic plant material and water. The metal clay is shaped, dried, and fired, using a butane torch or kiln. Firing the clay will burn away the binder and will sinter the fine silver particles, leaving only metal. The jewellery piece is then polished using a tumbler, which brings it to a shine. Often the pieces will include embellishments such as gold, gemstones, and glass enamels.
