Charging African Savanna Elephant

This striking stained glass hanging was inspired by a photo of a charging elephant, taken by the artist.

African savanna elephants are the largest species of elephant and the biggest terrestrial animal on Earth. They are easily distinguished by their very large ears—which allow them to radiate excess heat—and front legs which are noticeably longer than the hind legs. They grow to 10-13 feet in height. This one is probably a female matriarch and is charging because its protecting its herd and/or its drying grassland and watering territory.
