Leah Ashby is an experienced music and arts educator and successful business owner. Leah started her musical training at the age of 5 years old and continued to develop her love and skills through the Royal Conservatory of Music. She has studied with top instructors in British Columbia and Ontario. Completed examinations with first class honours and competed in many musical festivals.
Leah started her private music teaching 14 years ago and has taught piano, band, ukulele and vocal instruction in private and group settings. Leah grew her knowledge in music education and received her Artistic Foundation Specialty certificate in 2015 with the Royal Conservatory to better grow and teach students of today.
As a busy mother of 3 children she is able to understand and relate well with her students. Leah believes in customizing each lesson to each individual student's needs, building relationships and developing confidence. She believes in making music and the arts social to allow students to connect together in the community to share their similarities and make music and art together. First you must learn to love music, then you learn the skills.
Through the Arts, Leah enjoys hosting family and friends paint nights through guided step by step instructions, again bringing the community and others together. When she is not instructing paint classes you can find her creating characters and story development through her drawing and cartooning classes with some fun with Anime as well. Leah has 3 years of visual arts, design technology experience teaching in the Private School Board and truly loves that there are no mistakes in art!
Leah is a successful Musical Director and having directed top musicals in her community, such as Elf Junior and Beauty and the Beast ( Disney Junior) when she is not at the piano, Leah loves to direct musicals, choir and vocal performances. She has spent the past 3 years as a full music Band Director and has been awarded for her live school performances and top rankings in festivals.
Leah has also been awarded a Canadian 150 award for her dedication to the arts education in Ontario.
Teaching the Art of Music and sharing her love of the arts is what Leah is truly passionate about. Looking forward to making Alliston her home and bringing all her creative lessons to the community.
