Piano Solo - Beginner Method

Own choice. Performers may register for this class more than once as long as each registration is a different piece. Selections are made from various method book series, Primary to Level 3, and pieces not currently in the RCM or CC syllabi. Please indicate method and level on registration form. We will aim to schedule participants in groups according to level.

Piano Solo - Preparatory

Own choice. Performers may register for this class more than once as long as each registration is a different piece. Selections are made from the current RCM or CC Syllabi.

Piano Solo - List A

Own choice. Performers may register for this class more than once as long as each registration is a different piece. Selections are made from the current RCM or CC Syllabi.

Piano Solo - List B

Own choice. Performers may register for this class more than once as long as each registration is a different piece. Selections are made from the current RCM or CC Syllabi.

Piano Solo - List C

Own choice. Performers may register for this class more than once as long as each registration is a different piece. Selections are made from the current RCM or CC Syllabi.

Piano Solo - List D

Own choice. Performers may register for this class more than once as long as each registration is a different piece. Selections are made from the current RCM or CC Syllabi.

Piano Solo - List E

Own choice. Performers may register for this class more than once as long as each registration is a different piece. Selections are made from the current RCM or CC Syllabi.

Piano Solo - Etudes

Own choice. Performers may register for this class more than once as long as each registration is a different piece. Selections are made from the current RCM or CC Syllabi.

Piano Solo - Concert Group

Own choice. Performers may register for this class ONLY ONCE. A concert group consists of 3 selections from the Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and/or Contemporary periods. Each selection is to be chosen from a different musical period. Competitors will be judged on the discrimination shown in their selections and on the program arrangement with regard to contrast, appropriateness, keys, etc. Competitors must be working at the specified level but may play one piece from a grade that is one higher or one lower than that level. PLEASE LIST TITLE, COMPOSER AND DURATION OF PIECE ON APPLICATION FORM FOR ALL PIANO CONCERT GROUPS.

Piano Solo - Pop Selection

Own choice. Performers may register for this class more than once as long as each registration is a different piece. Selections are to be made from the RCM Popular Selection List or current CC Contemporary Idioms Syllabi. Selections must be from the specified edition. LIMIT 5 MINUTES.

Piano Solo - Non-Conservatory Repertoire

Own choice. Performers may register for this class more than once as long as each registration is a different piece. Selections may NOT be made from the current RCM or CC syllabi or the RCM Popular Selection List.

Piano Sight Reading

Performers may register for this class ONLY ONCE. Material for these classes will be provided by the Adjudicator. Material will be approximately one grade level below the current level of study. This is a closed class, so prior to the beginning of each class participants and audience will be asked to leave the performance hall.

Piano Solo - Quick Study

Performers may register for this class ONLY ONCE. Material for these classes will be provided by the Adjudicator 48 hours before the class. Material will be appropriate for the grade level of the class entered.

Piano Solo - Canadian Composers

Own choice. Performers may register for this class more than once as long as each registration is a different piece. Please indicate level of performance and age of performer on application form.

Piano Duet - One Piano, Four Hands

Own choice.

Piano Duet - Teacher and Student

Own choice. Student will perform a duet with their teacher. Only the student will be adjudicated.

Piano Duet - Family Class

Own choice. Piano 4 hands duet performed by family members.
Performers may enter only ONE class in this section. Please indicate level of performance and age of performers on application form.

Piano Solo - Original Composition

Original composition written and performed by the composer. An electronic copy of the original score must be submitted 1 week prior to the performance. LIMIT 5 MINUTES.

Open Style (Piano Solo, Improvisation)

Own choice. The Performer may play any arrangement of any song, as long as it is his/her own arrangement and not memorized from a piece of music. The Performer may also play a free improvisation (an improvisation that is NOT an arrangement of a pre-existing piece). Printed copies of the music are not necessary for this class. This class is an opportunity for those who play by ear and like to improvise, adding their own style to an existing piece of music. Please indicate the style of piece that you are performing ie. Jazz, Blues, Classical, etc. LIMIT 5 MINUTES

Piano Accompaniment

Own choice. The pianist must provide a vocal or instrumental soloist/ensemble. Only the Accompanist will be marked. LIMIT 5 MINUTES.

Special Needs Performance Class

This class is open to any students with learning disabilities that may prevent them from participating in the other classes. This is an open class to students of all ages. Students will receive an adjudication and a certificate for their participation.

Piano Solo - Adult

Own choice. Performers may register for this class more than once as long as each registration is a different piece. For students 21+.

Beginner: less than 2 years of study
Intermediate: 3 - 5 years of study
Advanced: 5 or more years of study.

Piano Master Class

Each participant will work directly with the adjudicator on a prepared piece(s) of the participant's choice. Each participant will work with the adjudicator for a specified length of time based on their level of study. All participants will remain for the full duration of the class.
