Session 4 - Photography in the Field

Now to apply what you have learned!
Participants will go on a field trip to Earl Rowe Park and apply the principles taught in previous sessions

This series of 4 individual workshops will help you understand your camera, learn how to use it creatively, and do some basic editing using free software. You must take one of another session 1, 2 or 3.

In this final session, participants will have a chance to practise the principles taught in previous sessions, with the help of instructor Kathy MacFarlane.

During this session, we plan to practise:

  • Bird photography (if the birds cooperate) - trying exposure compensation

  • Close up photography - looking at the direction of the light

  • Landscape photography - learning about light metering
  • Prerequisite: Must have taken at least one of the three previous sessions in this series.

I received my first camera when I graduated from university many years ago, and photography quickly became my passion.

I have turned that passion into a photography business. Over the years, I have developed a love of capturing unscripted activities. Whether it is a fundraising event or a sporting event, I am always up for the challenge of capturing the story and the people enjoying the activities.

That love of action photography combined with nature photography has expanded into bird photography and catching the birds in flight. I also spend a lot of time exploring this big world we live in and use my photos to capture stories of what I see. I am always trying to learn new techniques and improve, so I shoot every week.
