Submission Requirements
Entries must be written in English and typed using standard 12-point font (Times New Roman, Ariel or Helvetica).
Submit the writing in PDF format. The name of the PDF document should be the title of your submission - DO NOT include your name.
Include word count for short stories or line count for poems on the entry form. (You don't need to include the title in the word count.)
Include page number and title on each page of the manuscript.
Judging is done anonymously - please do not put your name or any identifying marks on your submitted manuscript. Any submissions with identifying marks may be disqualified. There are no refunds for disqualified works.

Registration is due by the following deadlines: Adult - October 26, 2024 and Youth - November 2, 2024. Late entries will not be accepted.
Registration fees are due at the time of registration. Credit and e-transfer are online payment options. If you need to pay by debit or cash, these can be made in person at 41 Victoria St East, Alliston.
Entry fees are non-refundable.
All manuscripts (poem, script or short story) must be uploaded in PDF format at the time of registration. Qualifying
Each entry must be your own original work and previously unpublished. Work that has been published online or in print, recorded for broadcast or performed for an audience is considered "previously published" and is not eligible.
Paper copies will not be accepted.
All qualifying entries will receive written feedback from the adjudicator.
Entrants must be a resident of Ontario to qualify for awards.
Please pay special attention to entry requirements as stated on the Syllabus.
Entries that exceed word/line count or include identifying marks or author's name may be disqualified.
Entries that are generated or created by computer software and/or artificial intelligence will be disqualified.
Entries that include excessive violence or sex and the use of profane, vulgar, racist or offensive words, determined by the judges, will result in the story being disqualified.
Refunds will not be given for disqualified or late entries.
By submitting to the Contest, you agree to abide by all Contest rules.Winning entries
Winners will be notified by email.
Winners' names and entries will be published on the Creative Works website and may be shared on the main SSAC site and our social media at our discretion.
Entrants not selected as winners will not be notified individually.
Awards will be presented at the Winter Spotlight on the Arts, date TBA.
