Junior Short Story - First Place

When Lily was born, her mother was running away from witches who wanted Lily for their own to make them look young. Her mother died because of the witches' attack and Lily was cursed by the witches. Lily's dad went into the forest and rescued Lily. Twelve years later Lily's father married Bella, who was really mean to Lily. Lily likes stories. Since her father married Bella, she pretended she was Cinderella because that's how she felt. Lily has one friend who was always kind to her but the girls at school laughed at her because she was cursed. Now let's let Lily tell the rest of it...

One day my dad was at the supermarket when there was a robbery and he lost all of his money. He was sad and worried that Bella would get mad. Bella wouldn't share any of her money so we had to move to a smaller house. It had one story and 5 bedrooms, a bathroom and the last room was a kitchen, a living room and a dining room all in one. I really didn't like this but I picked a room and decorated it. I loved my new room and I went to check out the other rooms. I went into my parents room and the biggest room and thought they were cool. Then I went into the last bedroom at the end of the hall. Unlike the other rooms the door was closed. I opened the door and saw something spooky out the window like a broom. I got scared and ran into my room and shut the door and I fell asleep.

In the morning I woke up. I went to the kitchen and ate breakfast, packed my bag and went to school. When I got to school I saw Rose! ``Did you move?`, I asked Rose. Rose said ``Yes, into the bed and breakfast down beside the school``. ``I moved there!``, I said. We were both surprised and happy. Now I understood why there were more beds. We were so happy that we got to live together. When we both got home I saw Rose's room. I really liked her room.
That night at the cemetery I visited my mother's grave like I always do. I cried for an hour until it was midnight then I saw it again, a broom-like thing with a figure on top. Rose walked up and comforted me. Later we started walking back. We saw the broom-like figure but it was too late! I got so angry I turned into a witch and started wrecking the town. It went for days until Rose had an idea she could give me my favourite stuffed bunny. It reminded me of my mother. When I saw it I got sad and turned to normal. I fainted and woke up in the hospital. My stuffy Theo started talking and said "You have magic, silly!." I thought, maybe I do have magic! There are things I can't explain...
