Pharos

by Camden Cryderman

Pharos

Watching, observing, as those all around,
Frivol with whom they were meant to be bound.
They take out their key to the astral gate,
And marvel with their flame of luck given by fate.
Joined together, hand on hand,
They approach the place where there is no disband.
And hold up the key to the glimmering lock,
Which opens and sends a familiar shock.
Passing through the gates without warning,
Of who will be forgotten by you, come the morning.
For passing this gate signifies a connection,
That one has chosen who to give all affection.
They leave behind a singular lighthouse,
Shining tall in the night, but in lack of a spouse.
And without a second thought or a glimpse behind,
The mirrors advance through the gates of the mind.
When the gates have closed signifying their trip,
A noise can be heard of a slight chip.
For the structure so tall has lost yet another,
With nothing beside it to stand in as a brother.
As the once towering figure slowly decays,
The rest of the world is swirling ablaze.
But hope is still here that somewhere in the fires,
Comes the bond that this lighthouse truly desires.
But as the flame spits out star-crossed lovers,
Who once danced in the light until under the covers.
A life has been made and another has ended,
For the lighthouse has finally broken and descended.
