Autopsy

by Camden Cryderman

To fill a void that will never be full
A punctured heart where love's a mere null
A distraction game, a deceit of time
Omit the memory of hearing "you're mine"

Breathe in the air,
Is there still air
Inside of my lungs?

Feel bitter cold,
Bitter cold
No more warmth in my blood

Heat scorch from a flameless torch
Singing "don't leave" to my company
Pleasure's gone, face the final test
Surrender to your apathies or put them to rest

I still hide,
Can't hide
Though I refuse to run

Feel my skin,

Caving in

On these bitter bones

I still crave the hurt, still miss the worst
My soul yearns without the one who saw it first
Things are said,
And done
And dead
And gone
And the world forgets
But I'm not over it
Yet
