1000 Words: An Inspired Writing - I'm Invincible

They say a picture is worth a thousand words.

This spring SSAC has ushered in a new collaborative exhibit between our Visual Artists and Writers. Compelling and evocative images inspired stories and poetry of joy and sorrow, fear and longing.

Both the images and the accompanying writing will be shared in store, online, and featured here in our blog throughout the next seven weeks.

Artwork Created By: Mary Morganelli
Medium: Acrylic on Canvas

I'm Invincible
The painting in poetry
by J.C. Kavanagh, Author of The Twisted Climb book series

I'm invincible
Not invisible
I face forward, I don't look back
But
There are things to the left
And things to the right
That distract, not reflect
The real me that I hide.
It's there, can you see
The ME that I cover so I can not feel
The uncertainty, the fear
Unworthy I feel.
Yet as I face forward, and as I see the light
I will not look back. I will accept that light.
So I'll ignore the shadows on my left
And the shrill voices to my right
I will look to the light
YES
I welcome what I see
For there is ME
I'm invincible and free.
