Helen is a textile artist, focusing on upcycling Jeans and denim into stylish and functional bags. She is a local artist, with her studio located just outside of Shelburne, Ontario.
Her journey as a handmade seller began with a passion for upcycling Denim into functional bags. The durability and character of the Jeans, variety of pockets, belt loops, shades of denim and style options inspire an endless variety of bags, all washable and eco friendly.
The Jeans and denim are sourced from thrift stores and donated from friends, family and customers. The style of the Jeans and features dictate the style of bags created. The Jeans taken apart and the usable bits are patchworked into pieces to fit her design. Her patterns have been made by her and adapted as needed with full instructions for ease of design, cutting and assembly.
The bags are lined with cotton and additional elements such as zipper closed pockets and adjustable straps are added for added functionality.
She offers a variety of styles including crossbody bags, hobo bags, totes and weekender bags, convertible backpacks, fanny packs, wristlets and clutches and more as I continue to experiment to fit the everchanging needs of her clients.
