The Tecumseth and West Gwillimbury Historical Society (TWGHS) is a volunteer, not-for-profit, charitable corporation. We are dedicated to promoting public interest in and understanding of the history of the former Townships of Tecumseth and West Gwillimbury and are committed to protecting and preserving the two Townships' rich and varied heritage.
TWGHS meetings are held in the Tec-We-Gwill Women's Institute hall in Newton Robinson, just west of County Road 27, at 4380 Line 10, Bradford West Gwillimbury. This historic building, constructed in 1857 as an Orange Lodge, continues to serve as a popular community meeting place.
Everyone with an interest in history is welcome to attend our monthly programs. They are free for members and $5 for guests. Family memberships cost $35 per year, while individuals pay $20.
We meet on the third Mondays during January to May and September to November.
Doors open at 7pm and the meetings start at 7:30pm. After the program, refreshments are served downstairs.
For members and their guests, we hold our June Picnic at a Heritage location on the first Sunday in June and our Old Fashioned Christmas Party on the first Sunday in December.
