Clay Animation Creation

Level: 8+
Medium: Clay, Stop Motion Studios
Ages: 8-14

Calling all filmmakers ages 8-14!

Join us August 5th-7th for our hands-on, creative clay stop-motion animation workshop, where we introduce kids to the exciting world of filmmaking. Over these workshops we'll go through the step-by-step process of making a stop motion animation.

1st Class
On day one we'll be making our own expressive clay characters. We'll go through the basics of working with clay and how to make a simple, wire armature for the characters.

2nd Class
Day two the kids will get to work together setting up the scenes. They'll get to decide which setting they'd like to put the characters in and put together a diorama of it. We'll also spend this day creating a storyboard for our short film.

3rd Class
On day three we'll start filming! We'll be using Stop Motion Studios to film and we'll go through the features the app offers. The short film itself will be 30-45 seconds long.

By the end of the course, they'll develop storytelling skills, teamwork skills, and a short animation to show off to friends and family. Can't wait to see you there!

Courtyard Studio is a special series of workshops made possible in part by funding from Canada Summer Jobs. Their generous support allows us to offer these workshops at a low cost, making creative opportunities more accessible to our community.
