1000 Words: An Inspired Writing - Wind and Windows

1000 Words: An Inspired Writing - Wind and Windows

They say a picture is worth a thousand words.

This spring SSAC has ushered in a new collaborative exhibit between our Visual Artists and Writers. Compelling and evocative images inspired stories and poetry of joy and sorrow, fear and longing.

Both the images and the accompanying writing will be shared in store, online, and featured here in our blog throughout the next seven weeks.

Wind and Windows

Cradled in the breast of humanity,
starring into the soul of nature,
is where I discovered the contents of my mind.

In the dust, what wonders pass,
the wind tore into my heart like a blade shivering in the sun.
Searching for love, ghosts laboured to compose their brawls.

A spray of lavender brushes across my face,
while the wind eases the pain with grace,
whispering, "peace has not left you, child."

The night comes down and changes the day,
reminding me to live like it may be my last.

The fire in my soul, so green it may seem,
leaves me weary, longing for the light to crown the tremor.

Truth is swaying in the twilight,
kneeling at sunset and rejoicing at sunrise,
praying not to die before I begin to live.

From an open window, the scent of lavender brings me nearer to the cause, breaking the chains of resistance.
Swept by silken rifts of light from the cradle to the grave,
screened by darkness under a vanilla sky,
sounding peace drinks in the breaths of joy!

There is a pearl of wisdom in the eye of compassion, showing its love to the suffering world, take hold of the branch from the hands of Eden, and the winds of fate will take you through the windows of time.
