SSAC & Member Artist Events - Basic Cyanotype on Paper Workshop

Sat May 30, 2026 - 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM

Discover the fascinating process where art and science meet by creating your own unique cyanotype prints on watercolour and washi papers using the power of sunlight.

Cyanotype is one of the earliest photographic printing processes. Using UV light from the sun (or a UV lamp), this simple yet magical chemical process produces rich Prussian blue images on paper. By combining light-sensitive solution with natural and found objects, you will create unique prints that are perfect for framing, gifting, collage, or mixed media work.

What You Will Learn:

• Participants will gain hands-on experience with the cyanotype process and learn the basic process to start your practice.
• All the steps required to create your cyanotype prints on paper.
• How to create different compositions and use objects to add visual interest to your prints.
• Understand which papers work best for cyanotype.
• Identify potential problems and avoid basic errors with these tips.

No previous experience is required. Beginners are welcome.

Weather Note
Cyanotype printing relies on UV light. If cloudy weather is predicted, the workshop will be conducted indoors using a UV lamp.

Price: $110
