In this workshop, participants will design and create their own original piece of fine silver jewellery using precious metal clay. Participants will begin by sketching and creating the texture to be used with the clay for a small bracelet or necklace* charm. Once your creation has been molded Adults** will learn how to use a torch to fire their piece.
Following firing the class will take a break for the pieces to be tumbled which is the final step (approx. 1 hour during scheduled class time, you are welcome to leave and shop or grab a snack along Victoria Street). After the break everyone can come back to pick up their finished pieces.
This is a wonderful opportunity to create a special one-of-a kind present for someone or yourself!
Please register early as this class has a limited number of participants
**While this class is open to ages 10+ no participant under the age of 18 will be allowed to fire their own piece. Firing for underage participants will be done by the instructor. If you want an underage participant to fire their own piece a parent/guardian must sign a waiver. Please contact Sarah at s.odonnell@southsimcoeartscouncil.com if you require this form.
*In this workshop participants will make a charm. Necklace chains are not included in the cost, but will be available for purchase for those interested.
Time: Depending on the final registration numbers and time required to fire the pieces this class will end between 5pm and 5:30pm.
How do I register?
When registering for this program you have a choice of what to pay; either 'Full Price' or a subsidized grant rate. These subsidized grant prices are based on the cost of materials, as well as other important pricing considerations. We hope that by offering this tiered pricing it will allow remove some of the barriers that may have kept members of our community from participating.
What is this grant subsidy?
These Arts4All Workshops are generously supported by grant funding through the Ontario Trillium Foundation and community donors. This grant allows us to offer professionally taught classes at subsidized rates with the intent to remove the barriers that hinder our community from participating in the arts. In addition to this subsidy a donation box will be on site. We are always grateful for donations towards these incredible programs. All funds received from donations & registration will go back into our #BreakTheBarriersInitiative helping us provide ongoing programming to our community.
If you have questions about financial or travel assistance for these programs through the SSAC please contact Sarah at s.odonnell@southsimcoeartscouncil.com
