The image of Il Carnevale (Mardi Gras), was created by the South Simcoe Arts Council member Max Grasso and it is provided to accompany the short story by the same title for the exhibit (1000 words).
Il Carnevale
When spring approaches in Venice, one can feel the scents of flowers and the sea spreading through the waters of the Canal Grande all the way to the colorful glasses of Murano.
The warm and starlit night envelops the couple as they proceed tight together to celebrate the “Mardi Gras” (Carnevale) in Saint Marc square, a muffled sound behind reveals the presence of a gondola riding the night in the canal.
Once the couple reaches the Bridge of Sights (Ponte dei Sospiri) they stop surrounded by the silence, all around to them few street lamps fight the loneliness of the shadows.
The camera of a curious photographer immortalizes the couple and the image is printed for all to see above.
