STILLNESS

When I painted this scene Stillness, I was thinking about the kind of magical quiet where this figure under the umbrella is finding peace in the simple act of reading. I wanted to capture that moment when you realize the ordinary is enough: the warmth of sun on your skin, the colours of flowers spilling from their pots, bare feet on the ground, the comfort of a book in your hands. The empty chair is a suggestion that someone else may come, BUT for now this stillness belongs to one person alone.
