When painting Joanne paints abstractly, infusing subtle hints of the familiar, inviting viewers to immerse themselves into the experience. Joanne Lomas a longtime resident of Simcoe County primarily focuses on landscape in her work. An enthusiastic camper, hiker, and traveler, she delights in discovering her environment through painting and photography. Her approach is intuitive, dependent on the spontaneity of the moment and the medium's response to the surface. Joanne paints abstractly, infusing subtle hints of the familiar, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in their own experience. She employs Photoshop features as if they were traditional paints and brushes, crafting highly modified images from her original photographs, which are then printed onto metal panels. She shows across Ontario in various art exhibitions.
