Blue Collar Series #9636

This series of monoprints is created from an old cutting board once used daily in a blue-collar workspace. The worn surface—marked by years of repetitive labour—offers a naturally complex network of lines that becomes the foundation of each print. As ink moves across the delicate paper, these lines guide the colour, allowing it to drift and settle in unique ways with every impression.
The variation in colour across the edition speaks to the individuality found within routine work: no two prints are the same, just as no two days of labour shape the board in exactly the same way. By transforming a utilitarian object into a printing plate, the series elevates the quiet poetry of manual work and highlights the beauty embedded in tools that often go unnoticed. The resulting images hover between abstraction and memory, carrying forward the gestures of the hands that once shaped the board.
