Audrey M. Bain

All her life, Audrey Bain has involved in the arts. During high school she won a Two-Year scholarship Nova Scotia College of Art. From St. Lawrence College, Cornwall, she earned a Creative and Visual Arts Diploma (With Distinction) She continued her studies at established schools of Fine Art: Doone, Schneider, Ottawa and Montreal's Museum of Fine Arts and the Sadie Bronfman. She is very proud to have become an Elected Member of the Society of Canadian Artists.

She ran the "Country Studio" in Morrisburg. From 1982 to 1993 she was Gallery Director for Cornwall Regional Art Gallery. CRAG flourished as the Cornwall City supported focal point for the arts by organizing regular art exhibitions, artist talks, regular Newsletters, Poetry readings, memorable plays, artist visits, a Gallery Shoppe - featuring local artists' works - Art Rental and many instructional workshops and classes. She served on MVS Gallery's Curatorial Committee in Brockville. She was invited, recently, to become part of the Artist Selection Committee for SCA. Audrey shares, with her husband Alan, the operation of Winddrift Studio and Gallery. She taught Oil Painting for St. Lawrence College. She has continued active participation in regional arts groups; Focus Art, SGGFA, SLC Alumni, in Ottawa OWS, NFAL, and in eastern Ontario, ECOAA.
Audrey paints "plein aire," in summer, boreal Canada landscapes, in winter, the weathered barns and houses of a gentler age.
She enjoys an active yearly exhibition schedule. Recently "Weathering Sentinels" in Cline House Gallery, Cornwall, "Together Over the Years" at the Marianne van Silfhout Gallery, Brockville.

She has been honoured with numerous awards, among them: the National Trust Award, Tom Thomson Memorial Gallery, the First Place Award of Excellence and NFAL trophy, for "Still Water" and numerous other First Place credits for her well-known acrylic landscapes.
