Adult Acting Class - Basics of Scene Study

Level: Level 2
Ages: Adult

Instructor: Scott Hurst

Recommended for Ages 18+

What goes on in a Basics of Scene Study Class?
As an extension of the South Simcoe Theatre Acting Level 1 class, participants are paired up to prepare and present scenes that are written for two or more actors. Participants are encouraged to try new things without the pressure of deadlines and audience expectations. This class allows the participant the opportunity to observe others as they experiment and make new discoveries; it's "play" at its best. Each week we may do an exercise chosen to offer us a new skill, or perspective, but most of the time in each session will be devoted to the presentation and reworking of scenes.

Time permitting, participants should be able to work on 2 - 3 scenes over the 6 weeks. Due to the nature of Scene Study participants will be encouraged to do some homework between classes. Each class is cumulative, so regular attendance is recommended; and please keep in mind that your consistent attendance affects your scene partner as well as others in the class.
