March Break: Pet Portrait Painting for Youth

Level: Beginner
Medium: Painting
Ages: 9 - 16

In this fun and creative workshop, students will have the opportunity to paint a portrait of their own pet or favourite animal using acrylic paints. To start, a basic outline of their pet will be pre-drawn on a 9x12" canvas.

Throughout the session, artist LuAnne will guide students through the process of creating realistic fur textures, lifelike colours, and capturing the unique features of their pet. The class will begin with an introduction to basic colour theory, followed by hands-on techniques to mix primary and secondary colours, as well as how to shade, tint, and highlight to bring their painting to life.

By the end of the workshop, students will have a beautiful acrylic portrait of their beloved animal to cherish!
